US Marine Speaks Out

One of my challengers recently was quoted, “Republicans need to start acting like Republicans again.” I find this a bit amusing from the standpoint that right now the GOP cannot even agree on what constitutes a Republican. This is not just a Republican issue; Democrats are experiencing an identity crisis as well.

I think much more relevant than whether you are Republican or Democrat, red or blue, is this: Are you willing to stand in public service as did the statesmen who founded our country and vow your life, your fortune, and your sacred honor?

A year ago I was a private citizen just like you. Today I am running for U.S. Senate to represent you and the great state of Colorado. This decision to serve was motivated by my love of liberty. The fiscal irresponsibility, injustice, and deprivation being birthed by Congress at the expense and repression of the individual—you and me—must cease. The arrogant force of government must be corralled.

“Too big to fail,” is a belief held by our current Congress. It is a mentality that makes them blind to see and deaf to hear those who marched on The National Mall in Washington, D.C. this past September 12. It is a superiority they feel toward themselves that makes them able to reject the 912 groups, the Tea Party movement, and all those who stand up to exercise their First Amendment Right at Town Hall meetings. The mindset of our legislators is a dangerous one.

America is a government of the people, by the people, for the people; but 585 chairs in Congress, with a voice that only speaks Democrat, wants to transform America into a government of the government by the government for the government. Think of it as a cocktail blend of socialism and communism, with a twist of fascism. It is a formula for enslavement no matter how pretty the bottle or how clever the marketing.

I am a U.S. Marine veteran, I am a businessman, and I am the proud descendant of an American Revolution patriot. I say what I mean and mean what I say. I hold steadfast to our country’s principles as written in the Constitution. With honor I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. With faith and humility I acknowledge that we are one nation under God and bow only to Him.

So back to the quote, “Republicans need to start acting like Republicans again.” I will continue to be who I am today and tomorrow, and I hope that is enough to earn the privilege to serve you as I vow my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor.
